Hi this is Reece.
For my Eagle Scout Service Project I'm going to be doing a food drive to benefit the Daily Bread Food Bank in Collegeville. Because of the cut to SNAP benefits and a record number of people with food insufficiencies, the daily bread needs as many donations as they can get. Their shelves have been emptied for months now, and they require help.
Can you help?
The best way to help is to become a neighborhood captain and gather as many donations as you can in your neighborhood. This is a little involved, which can mean more service hours for you!
A neighborhood captain is a Scout who lives in a larger residential area with a lot of houses in close vicinity.
What they will do is distribute a flyer to their neighbors. You can also send this flyer via an email list or social media page/blog if your neighborhood has one of those. You can use my standard flyer and put your name on it, or you can make one of your own using this template.
The flyer has spots to fill out your name and the dates you will collect the food from your neighbors. Find the flyer HERE
After you collect the food you can give it to me at St. John's, or at my house, or you can drop it off yourself at the Food Pantry (as long as you contact me to coordinate that).
If you want, you can repeat this process more times.
If you want to sign up as a neighborhood leader you can do so with THIS LINK.
Another way to help is to donate food yourself to this drive. You can bring it to me on the dates listed on my personal flyer (June 11, 12, and 13).
Why should you help?
Food banks really need help
Service hours for you
Visibility for Scouting
Thank you!
Hopefully the food we get is better than these rolls!
Thanks! - Reece B.
