Do you need to complete an outdoor related rank achievement? Or raise some funds for yourself for Summer Camp or High Adventure? Or get out into the outdoors with your fellow Scouts? Or simply BE HELPFUL? Please join the Troop for the Wissahickon Creek Clean Up on Saturday, April 26th from 9-11:30AM
Please RSVP HERE if you plan to attend.
Wear your fluorescent yellow Troop 98 Summer Camp T-shirt (if you have it), or any other high-visibility shirt, and shoes you don't mind getting wet and muddy. You might need to go into the creek to pick up trash. If you have waders, bring them!
We will provide gloves and trash bags.
See THIS GOOGLE MAP which highlights our clean up stretch (Section 16) and parking. Parking is on Mt. Pleasant Avenue, but if there's not enough space then park on Maple Avenue and walk back.
Adults and siblings are welcome!
Pickup is at the same place as drop-off.
This service project would be good for any of the following Scout requirements:
Tenderfoot - Service hours, identifying poisonous plants, utilizing the buddy system
Second Class - Service hours, Leave no trace, Nature animals identification
First Class - Service hours, Nature plants identification, extreme weather conditions, Citizenship environmental issue (see below for more info)
Star - Service hours
Life - Service hours, conservation related
You can also earn funds for the hiking you do this day as part of the Hike-a-Thon program
The hiking you do during this project can help you earn funds for Summer Camp or Northern Tier as part of the Hike-a-Thon fundraising program. Download THIS FORM and collect pledges from your supporters. You must turn in any money or checks to Troop 98 by May 16th and we'll credit your Troop Scout account (you get 55% of what you raise; the rest goes to Cradle of Liberty Council - more details on the program can be found on this flyer).
