WEBMASTER - STATIC (Stuff that doesn’t change all too often like About Troop 98, FAQ, Resources, Links). Update the “static” parts of the Troop 98 website. Working with adult and youth leaders, create new content for the webpage that would be useful. Make sure static pages are up to date and accurate. Scan other troop websites to find good ideas. Train your replacement.
WEBMASTER - DYNAMIC (Stuff that changes often, like Troop events, calendar). Update the “dynamic” parts of the Troop 98 website (frequently changing content). Receive information from leaders and Scouts and post it. Set up templates that can be used for standard pages, plus archive all pages for future reference and copy/paste. Scan other troop websites to find good ideas. Train your replacement.
HISTORIAN ROLES
HISTORIAN - WEB Maintain an active, online web log of our activities with links to pictures and narratives/captions of the events.
HISTORIAN - PICTURES Seek out Troop 98 pictures from Scouts and Adults. Upload, edit, organize and caption them in SmugMug. Make slide shows and movies for Courts of Honor or for Troop publicity (recruiting; service project for Summer Camp). Upload and catalog pictures from prior Troop 98 years.
INSTRUCTOR ROLES
The Troop Instructor teaches Scout skills when needed (and upon request from the PLC or the Scoutmasters). An instructor should be proficient in a Scouting skill (or willing and able to become so). He must also have the ability to teach that skill to others. An instructor typically teaches subjects thatScouts are eager to learn—especially those such as first aid, camping, and backpacking—that are required for outdoor activities and rank advancement. A troop can have more than one instructor.

SCRIBE - Database Admin - Learn how to manage the Troop 98 Filemaker database to record and update information on Scouts, their participation, and advancement. Create new forms, templates, advancement reports. Work with the Scoutmaster to network the database and grant user access to certain information. Learn about how other troops use databases and software to track Scouts’ advancement and participation. Train your replacement.
SCRIBE - Advancement & Scoutbook - Learn how to use and update Scoutbook and use it to keep accurate records of advancement, leadership and service. Learn about advancement options for Summer Camps and help promote them and help Scouts select, sign up, and complete prerequisites.
SCRIBE - Attendance- Work with the SPL and Scoutmaster to develop a foolproof way to track advancement at every meeting and activity. Track and update advancement in collaboration with the Troopmaster Scribe. Play around with some cool electronics (like fingerprint scanners).
SCRIBE - Corresponding Secretary
Create and send messages, gifts, mementos, and keepsakes for individuals and organizations deserving of thanks and appreciation from Troop 98. This could include photos, awards, custom bling, certificates, notes, letters, email, and SMS messages.
QUARTERMASTER ROLES
The Quartermaster is responsible for managing the troop’s equipment, including tents, cooking gear, and other supplies. QMs help ensure that the troop has the necessary equipment and supplies to carry out its activities and events. The Quartermaster is also responsible for ensuring that equipment is properly stored and maintained between uses. Another important role of the Quartermaster is to ensure that the troop has the necessary equipment and supplies for its activities and events. This includes coordinating with the activity or event planner to determine what equipment is needed, as well as making sure that the equipment is properly packed and transported to the event location

QM - UNIFORM STUFF & INSPECTIONS (Stuff Sack).
The “Stuff Sack” keeps an inventory of shoulder tabs, patches, neckerchiefs and slides. Order new and replacement name tags for Scouts and leaders. Maintain “sample uniforms” and conduct periodic uniform inspections for the troop. The Stuff Sack has been incredibly useful and helpful during Covid! Thanks!
QM - Pioneering. Help obtain a full complement of pioneering spars and ropes. Get a pioneering storage shed built. Maybe a pioneering trailer! Mark and cut, preserve, organize and store poles and ropes.
QM - Philmont/Backpacking: Water purification, bear bags and ropes, backpacking tents, dining flys. Also specialty Philmont equipment.
QM - TROOP MEETINGS (A/V and Meetings (CONCIERGE). Set up organized storage for all materials needed for meetings. Set up and take down standard items each week (other than what Service Patrol does) and less-frequently used items when requested. Establish a standard list of Troop Meeting supplies. Obtain them, put them in storage (consistently) and resupply when needed. Work with St. John’s and adult leaders to obtain new storage space and adapt it for our needs or improve existing storage space. Learn how to use our existing audio/visual (A/V) equipment. Set up and take down A/V equipment whenever it’s required. Research new A/V equipment options. Make recommendations on which A/V equipment would be good for Troop 98 and work to obtain it. Learn about how other troops use A/V and other materials to run good meetings. Train your replacement.
