NYLT - BSA National Youth Leadership Training

Hello Scouts and Parents of Troop 98,

Troop 98 has been asked to nominate Scouts to attend the Spring 2024 NYLT Course. NYLT stands for National Youth Leadership Training, and this session will be held at Ockanickon Scout Reservation. Over the course of 2 weekends, NYLT educates Scouts on showing the meaning of leadership. It focuses on the concepts of:

The training is delivered in an outdoor setting with an emphasis of learning in a fun environment. Interconnecting concepts and work processes are introduced early, built upon, and aided by the use of memory aids, which allows participants to understand and employ leadership skills much faster.

One of our very own Troop 98 Scouts, Dalton Samuel, has taken the course as a participant and was selected to be a part of their 2024 Spring NYLT Staff. So far, he has given nothing but positive feedback as he has been practicing his presentation and teaching skills. He says the course is very thorough with the intentions of building future leaders and is well taught by the staff who are all significantly experienced and educated on the concepts they have mastered. Other recent Troop 98 Scouts who have participated in this course were Connor and Brendan Dow, who would also share the same opinions towards this course.

Troop 98 is sponsoring Scouts to attend NYLT on the following dates (2 weekends): March 8-10  •  March 22-24

Troop 98 will cover 1/2 the cost of the $330 participation fee (so a Scout accepted and sponsored by Troop would only pay $165).
