Upon joining, Troop 98 requires:

- the official khaki Boy Scout SHIRT (we recommend short-sleeves)
- official Boy Scout SHORTS OR convertible pants or ZIP-OFFS (called Switchbacks)
- we recommend the Boy Scout Web BELT
We have a limited number of hand-me-down uniform shirts and pants. You can inspect them at our Troop meeting place to see if they might fit you.
In addition to your Scout shirt and pants, you should purchase:
- the Cradle of Liberty Council strip
- the World Scout Crest Emblem (if not already on the shirt)
- If you don't like to sew on patches, we recommend you purchase Badge Magic (at a Scout Shop or online) to affix your patches.
- A troop 98 numeral patch
- Green shoulder tabs
- A Troop 98 neckerchief and neckerchief slide
- A custom name tag
- A patrol patch
