Summer Camp 2016

In Summer 2016 Troop 98 is attending two Summer Camps plus sending three crews to Philmont in New Mexico. For details on the Philmont trip click HERE.

SUMMER CAMP at Ockanickon

Ockanickon Scout Reservation
June 26 - July 2

This is the only camp available for New 2016 First Year Scouts (boys crossing over in early 2016)
Ockanickon is our "tried and true" base camp. Join us for a fun week of advancement, a wide selection of merit badges and activities, awesome food in the air conditioned dining hall, plus all the Troop 98 "extras".

Cost of camp depends on when you pay:
  • $390 if paid in full by Feb 26 (received by Troop 98)
  • New 2016 First Years: $390 if paid in full by May 27 (received by Troop 98)
  • $410 if paid in full by Apr 29 (received by Troop 98)
  • $430 if paid in full by May 27 (received by Troop 98)
  • $440 if paid up to check-in on June 26
Troop 98 adds a $50 surcharge for every Scout to cover additional expenses (food, unlimited birch beer, program supplies, T-shirt, rafting trip).

Camp Barton
July 31 - August 6
Barton looks to become a new favorite of Troop 98. Tucked into the banks of Lake Cayuga in New York, this camp offers a great outdoor program and lots of aquatics (including the only JetSki program in the East).

Cost of camp depends on when you pay:
  • Lowest cost is $355 if paid as follows: $100 deposit by Mar 25 (received by Troop 98) $255 balance by May 6
  • Regular rate is $385 if paid after May 15th
The campsite we've selected can accommodate up to 38 people (Scouts and leaders). The first 38 people who sign up and pay the $100 deposit get to go!

See details about Barton HERE and HERE (check out all the Troop 98 Scouts pictured in the brochure!). And sign up soon!

Ockanickon Scout Reservation
Resica Falls Scout Reservation

If you can't make it to the scheduled weeks with Troop 98, or if you just can't get enough of Scout camp, you can attend camp on a "Provisional" basis, which means you can go and stay with another Troop (Ockanickon weeks 1 to 7) or stay in a troop which is formed on the spot with all the other provisional campers (with adult leadership provided by the camp).

An extra week of camp gives you all sorts of options, whether it's earning more merit badges, participating in non-badge activities (like Adventure Sports, COPE, and Climbing at Ockanickon or Fawn Run and Paddle-Rama at Resica Falls).

Check out all the things you can do:

If you've already spent one week at another camp, or will be doing so later in the Summer, you can get a great discount on your camp fees for a Provisional week:
  • Details on Ockanickon costs HERE
  • Resica: $210 if you've gone (or will be going) to another Summer Camp - this is half price!
So talk to your parents and your friends and decide if you want to take advantage of MORE SCOUT CAMP this coming summer!
See the Scoutmaster if you have questions.
