Pine Barrens Canoeing 2014

Let's go CANOEING!

Saturday 21 June to Sunday 22 June in Wharton State Forest (the New Jersey Pine Barrens).

We'll leave on Saturday morning at 8AM from St. John's, drive to our campsite, and immediately canoe for three to five hours on the Wading River (between 6 and 10 miles).  The river is very gentle here (in fact, so shallow in parts that you may be "wading") and no significant canoeing experience is required.  We will, however, go over some canoeing instruction and SAFETY at the troop meeting on June 20th.  At the end of the day we'll head back to our campsite, set everything up, have dinner and an evening game, then a campfire.  Maybe someone can tell the story of the Jersey Devil!  Return on Sunday at Noon at St. John's.

There is an added cost of $15/Scout for this trip, above your patrol food cost.  No special gear is required (the canoe outfitters supply us with everything).

Meals: Eat breakfast before you leave on Saturday and bring a bag lunch for Saturday.  Patrols cook Saturday dinner and Sunday breakfast.
