Mack F Eagle Scout Service Project

Troop 98,

Do you need service hours? Would you like to help out an environmental education center and/or one of your fellow scouts?

Then mark your calendars!

I will be holding my Eagle Scout project on Sunday December 9th Saturday December 8th (rescheduled from November 3rd) from 9am to 2pm at the Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education (website)The center is located at 8480 Hagys Mill Road (in Roxborough).  Map HERE and below.

The Schuylkill Center is one of the first and few environmental education centers in the United States, owning and preserving over 325 acres of land mainly comprised of forests, and trails. With that much property there is a lot of work that needs to be done, and they can't do it all themselves.

One of the main issues that the Center's trails face is erosion. On November 3rd, we will be installing 7 water bars along the Woodcock trail at the Center to preserve the trail from being eroded by storm water. This involves digging trenches and filling them in with logs and soil.

All are welcome and encouraged to come volunteer and help out. Please fill out this RSVP form even if you did so before this project was rescheduled so that I know how many people will be coming and how much delicious pizza I should order. Additional refreshments will be provided.

Please bring a pair of work gloves and a water bottle. If you have a serious allergy to yellow jackets or wasps, please bring an EpiPen as well.

On behalf of the Schuylkill Center and myself, thank you all for your patience with the rescheduling of the project.

Thanks, and see you there!  - Mack F.
