Mac H Eagle Scout Service Project

Mac H’s  Eagle Scout Project

When: February 8th 2014

Where: Lighthouse Field at 199 E. Erie Ave, Philadelphia PA 19140

We'll be working from 9:30AM to 4PM, but you can come for any part of the day.

I will be trying to complete requirement 5 of the Eagle Scout rank, the service project, at Philadelphia’s Lighthouse Field, where our troop recently helped out with the Philadelphia Encampment. My plan is that we will meet at the field at 9:30am. Let me know on the RSVP form if you need a ride; my parents will run "shuttles" at two times during the day.  One will leave from St. John's at 9AM and return at 12:40.  The other will leave St. John's at 12:45 and return at 4:45.

At the field the project will begin with rehabbing the storage/ bathroom facilities building (in the picture below). First scouts will take out the gear that clogs the building’s traffic. Then scouts will bring down the old drop ceiling. While scouts are doing inventory for the gear, leftover debris and trash will be thrown out into contractor bags. Old cracked plexiglass windows will be replaced. Also a back stairwell will be covered with plywood. When all of this is finished, the final organization of the gear will go back into the building.

This project will benefit the Lighthouse Association, a local group that works to be “neighborhood safe-house” for the surrounding Philadelphia area. The building is constantly used by the public, and this rehab will allow for the building to be used continuing into the future.

Bring WARM CLOTHES; the weather is forecasted to be cold.

RSVP HERE - Let me know if you need a ride (or if you can give a ride to someone else)

Thanks for supporting my Eagle Scout Service Project!
