John C's Eagle Scout Project • Install a Permanent Orienteering Course at Fort Washington State Park

Hi guys! Help me complete my Eagle Project by installing a permanent Orienteering Course at Fort Washington State Park.

When: Saturday 5 September (9am to 3pm) – 2 hour time slots

Where: Fort Washington State Park, off of Militia Hill Road in Fort Washington •  MAP HERE

Hello everybody, I am asking for your help with my eagle project on Saturday! I will be installing posts for an orienteering course I designed in Fort Washington State Park. The difficulty of this project is digging the holes for the posts, so be ready to dig! This is an opportunity to be part of something that will be used and enjoyed by scouts and others for years to come. The proposed map and details for the controls are attached for anyone who would like to look at it, feel free to do so.

The posts look like this:

I strongly encourage any parents or siblings who want to come to please do so to keep out-of-family Covid exposure to a minimum. We will have plenty of shovels, post-hole diggers, and digging bars that will be sanitized and ready to go, but if you would like to bring your own feel free to do so. Bringing gloves is always recommended.

Make sure to bring water, it’s going to get pretty humid, although we do have some just in case.

There will also be pizza for lunch, so make sure to work hard and enjoy it!

Safety:

  • YOU MUST WEAR A MASK.
  • Scouts will be required to do a COVID safety check upon arrival. Please do not do anything until you have been checked.
  • I will be providing small bottled waters and prepackaged snacks, but please bring your own water bottle (labeled with your name on it) to reduce COVID risk as much as possible.
  • Please label your tools to prevent mix-ups that could spread the virus.
  • If you need to borrow a tool, clean it with a sanitizing wipe first. We will provide wipes at the project.
