Sep 21-23, 2018

Come camping at Hawk Mountain Scout Reservation!

We'll camp on Friday and Saturday nights in tents at Hawk Mountain Scout Reservation (DIRECTIONS).  We'll be in the CROCKETT campsite. Here's what you can do on Saturday:
  • BB shooting and Archery
in the morning at Hawk Mountain's range. Also, something called Skeet archery where you shoot big plastic arrows at flying foam discs (it sounds cool!).

  • Fishing in the morning and afternoon at Hawk Mountain's lake (bring your own rod and tackle, but we can lend you equipment if you don't have any).

  • Kayaking and canoeing on Hawk Mountain's lake. We need one or more Scout lifeguards to help us!

  • Take a five mile hike (or backpack!) on the Appalachian Trail to complete requirement 3b for Second Class rank.

  • Complete an orienteering course for requirement 4a for First Class rank (and one or two Scouts can complete requirement 8 for Orienteering merit badge).

  • Four meals available for patrol cooking for ranks (B/L/D Saturday and B Sunday). Make sure you come to the troop meeting to organize this for your patrol!

  • Senior Scouts (and anyone else who wants to) can make plans to set up and run the Indiana Jones Obstacle Course event which Troop 98 is running for the Fall Camporee
On Sunday we'll take a field trip to the Cabela's store in Hamburg and stop for lunch at Yocco's on the way home.
