2017 Philadelphia Encampment

Saturday October 21st - Lighthouse Field (Hunting Park), Philadelphia  -  Encampment Facebook page is HERE

This is the 5th Anniversary of the Encampment!

Come to the Philadelphia Encampment and help us continue this great new Philly tradition!

The Encampment is a Camporee for Scout Troops from within the City of Philadelphia, PLUS it's an opportunity to showcase the Scouting program for
boys from Scoutreach, an offshoot of Boy Scouts designed for urban and minority populations.
The Encampment takes place at LIGHTHOUSE FIELD, across the street from St. Christopher's Hospital for Children.  GOOGLE MAP
Troop 98 is putting on one quarter of the entire program, and we need all our Scouts to participate to make it a success!
What is Troop 98 doing at the Encampment?  We're running a program on Scoutcraft/Pioneering, and we need to:
  • Build a large Monkey Bridge, and a working Flagpole
  • Run three or four other events throughout the day:
    • Log Lift

    • Droid Factory

    • Death Star Destruction

    • Log Carry (using log tongs)
You'll also get the chance to participate in many other Encampment events and camp out with Scouts from Philadelphia at Lighthouse Field.  We need your help to make Troop 98's events successful. Please do your best to participate all day, but we still need you even if you can only come for a few hours (let us know on the RSVP so we can tell you how to arrive and depart).

Depart:  Saturday October 21st at 7AM from St. Johns
Return: Saturday at 5PM

There is no cost for you to participate. The Troop will provide lunch. Bring money if you want to buy things at the snack bar or trading post, and in case we stop for a slice of pizza on the way home.

What you need to bring:
  • Full Class A Uniform (Look Sharp! There will be news crews taking pictures and filming!)
  • Your Troop 98 Name Tag (if you need a new one let the Stuffsack know - click HERE)
  • Work gloves (for pioneering and running the events - trust us; you'll need them!)
  • A big smile and willingness to show off Scouting and Troop 98
  • Troop 98 Permission Slip (being sent via email)

Please help us make this an awesome Showcase of Scouting!
